From $5,200 per night, all-inclusive

Once the living room of the Guest House, and still the largest room in it: a wall of lake windows on one side and a chiselled stone fireplace on the other, under a cathedral ceiling.

The bed is curtained, which earns its keep on the nights the room is named for.

The lake windows.

The windows face west across the lake, which is where the weather comes from. Storms are watched from here the way other people watch films.

On a calm evening the sunset does the same job more quietly.

The bath.

A large tub beside a window onto the water, a stone-walled shower, and heated floors.

Double basins, and a dressing area between bath and bedroom.
