The upper floor of the Eagle’s Nest, given over to one suite: a sitting room and a bedroom, each with its own stone fireplace, and windows in every direction.

The bed stands on silver birch posts cut on the property. The view from it is mostly treetops, and some of the lake.

Two rooms, two fires.

The sitting room is the one to spend a wet afternoon in, with a fire, a sofa and a card table. The bedroom has its own hearth for the evening.

Both are laid each day; light whichever suits.

The bath.

A soaking tub set under the eaves, a separate rain shower, and heated floors.

A window over the tub looks straight out into the trees.
