The library room. The panelling is butterscotch pine, the shelves run floor to ceiling, and most of what is on them was here before any of us.

A writing desk sits at a bank of leaded windows, which is where the letters guests send us afterwards tend to have been started.

The library.

The books are there to be read, and to be taken down to the dock if the afternoon calls for it. Bring them back eventually.

A reading lamp at every chair, and a fire laid each evening.

The bath.

A soaking tub and a shower in the same panelled room, with heated floors and a window onto the trees.

Small, warm, and quieter than it has any right to be.
